Young People Lead Powerful Conversations on the Future of Education at St Helens Town Hall
Young people from across St Helens came together at St Helens Town Hall for the Education For Our Generation (EFOG) event — a youth-led conference focused on reimagining education for the future.
Led by St Helens Youth Council, the event brought together young people to share their experiences, ideas and solutions on how education can better support them to survive, thrive and shape their future.
The morning featured a series of interactive workshops exploring key themes including:
The curriculum of the future
Essential life skills for young people
Political education and understanding decision-making
Equality, diversity and inclusion
The kind of St Helens young people want to grow up in
Discussions were open, honest and solution-focused, with young people confidently sharing their perspectives and challenging the way education currently works. The event created a space where youth voice was not only heard, but valued as a key driver for change.
The EFOG campaign, created by young people, calls for an education system that goes beyond exams — one that prepares young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need for life.
The success of the event marks an important step forward for the campaign. The ideas gathered will now be used to inform future consultations, campaigns and discussions with decision-makers, ensuring that young people continue to play a central role in shaping education in St Helens.
St Helens Youth Council would like to thank all those who attended and supported the event, and looks forward to continuing this work to create meaningful change.
