No — you don’t need any interest in politics to join HYC. Our campaigns are not political, they focus on issues that matter to young people like the environment, wellbeing and accessibility.

An MYP (Member of Youth Parliament) is a young person elected to represent the views of young people in their area. They work on campaigns, speak on behalf of young people and can take part in national opportunities like debates and events.

Absolutely! HYC is all about young people leading the way. If you’ve got an idea, we’ll help you develop it into a campaign and support you to make it happen.

That’s completely normal! Everyone feels a bit nervous at first, but HYC is a friendly and welcoming space. You can take things at your own pace and get involved as much or as little as you feel comfortable.

Each session is different, but you can expect a mix of games, discussions and campaign work. We also work on projects, plan events and sometimes have guest speakers — all in a relaxed and supportive environment.
