Vibe UK Welcomes High Sheriff of Merseyside to See Impact of Knowsley Youth Work
Vibe UK’s Knowsley team recently welcomed High Sheriff of Merseyside Hazel Snell, alongside David and Kelly from the Community Foundation, to hear directly about youth work being delivered with young people across Knowsley.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase two projects commissioned through the Community Foundation: work with young people at Northwood, including their Vibin wid Vibe podcast, and targeted work with boys and girls at a school in Halewood.
Young people and staff shared their experiences of the projects, discussing how the funding has enabled Vibe UK to create spaces for open conversations, build positive relationships and give young people opportunities to explore issues that matter to them.
At Northwood, the Vibin wid Vibe podcast has provided a platform for young people to share their voices, experiences and opinions, developing their confidence and communication skills while putting young people's perspectives at the centre of the conversation.
The Halewood project has provided targeted work with boys and girls, creating opportunities to explore relationships, attitudes and the issues affecting young people within a safe and supportive environment.
The visit was particularly significant given Hazel Snell's passion for tackling violence against women and girls, providing an opportunity to discuss the importance of early intervention, education and creating spaces where young people can challenge harmful attitudes and develop healthy relationships.
Bringing together young people, youth workers, funders and community leaders also provided an important opportunity to demonstrate what commissioned youth work looks like in practice and the difference investment can make at a local level.
Vibe UK would like to thank Hazel, David and Kelly for taking the time to visit, listen to the experiences of young people and learn more about the work taking place across Knowsley.
The organisation is also grateful to the Community Foundation for commissioning both projects and enabling Vibe UK to continue creating opportunities for young people to be heard, supported and empowered within their communities.
