Young Leaders Represent St Helens and Halton at House of Commons

Young people from St Helens Youth Council and Halton Youth Cabinet proudly represented their communities during a two-day visit to London, culminating in the opportunity to debate some of the UK's biggest issues inside the House of Commons.

The visit began with a trip to London's West End to see the award-winning musical The Lion King, giving the young people the chance to experience one of the country's most celebrated theatre productions before taking part in the national event.

The following day, St Helens Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) Anja and Halton MYP Fin joined young representatives from across the UK in the House of Commons to debate issues that matter most to young people. Topics discussed included crime, health, housing, employment, and sustainability, with participants sharing their views and helping shape the national conversation on issues affecting their generation.

Representing their boroughs with confidence, passion, and professionalism, Anja and Fin demonstrated the power of youth voice and the importance of ensuring young people are heard at the highest levels of decision-making.

The annual event gives Members of Youth Parliament a unique opportunity to debate in one of the country's most iconic democratic institutions, developing public speaking skills, confidence, and a deeper understanding of how change can be influenced through civic participation.
