GLOW Choir Takes Pride to Liverpool with Rainbow Chorus Performance
Young people from GLOW, VIBE UK's LGBTQIA+ youth group, took to the stage in Liverpool this weekend as special guests of Liverpool's Rainbow Chorus, delivering a powerful performance celebrating pride, identity and self-expression.
The performance took place at St Bride's Church and marked the second public appearance for the newly formed GLOW Choir, following their successful debut at the Pride Cabaret earlier this month.
The group performed a selection of songs alongside spoken word pieces and messages of pride, showcasing not only their musical talents but also the confidence and creativity they have developed through the project. Many of the young people involved had little or no previous experience performing in front of a live audience, making the opportunity particularly significant.
The invitation from Liverpool's Rainbow Chorus provided young people with the chance to perform as part of a wider LGBTQIA+ community event, connecting them with performers and audiences from across the Liverpool City Region. The evening celebrated the power of music to bring people together and highlighted the importance of creating spaces where young people feel safe, valued and able to be themselves.
For VIBE UK, the performance represented another milestone in the development of GLOW Choir, which has quickly grown from a one-off Pride project into an ongoing opportunity for LGBTQIA+ young people to engage with music, performance and creative expression.
The young people received a fantastic reception from the audience, with many commenting on the confidence, passion and energy they brought to the stage. The experience has already inspired many members of the choir to continue performing and developing their skills.
VIBE UK would like to thank Jay and everyone at Liverpool's Rainbow Chorus for their warm welcome, encouragement and support of the young people. Special thanks also go to Coco Fabulous for hosting a fantastic evening filled with pride, humour and community spirit.
With invitations to perform continuing to grow, including an upcoming appearance at Halton Pride, the future is looking bright for the GLOW Choir as they continue to give LGBTQIA+ young people a platform to be heard, celebrated and proud of who they are.
