Parr Youth Club Young People Make Their Mark on St Helens Town Centre
Young people from Parr Youth Club have helped bring a bold new piece of public art to life in St Helens, adding their own creativity to new murals welcoming people into the town centre.
The young people were invited to get hands-on with the project, picking up the spray paint and adding their own splash of colour to the artwork. The experience gave them the opportunity to contribute directly to something that will become a lasting part of their local community.
Now complete, the graffiti mural creates an eye-catching welcome to St Helens and can be spotted by passengers arriving into the town centre by bus.
Those involved in bringing the artwork to life later came together for its official launch, celebrating the creativity and collaboration behind the finished mural and giving the young people the chance to see their contribution as part of the completed piece.
Projects like this provide young people with opportunities to develop new skills, express their creativity and build a greater sense of ownership and pride in the places where they live.
For the young people from Parr Youth Club, it also means knowing that thousands of people travelling into St Helens will be able to see something they helped create.
Vibe UK is incredibly proud to see young people playing an active role in brightening up their local area and creating something that can be enjoyed by the whole community.
Next time you're heading into St Helens town centre, keep an eye out – you might just spot their handiwork!
