Halton Youth Cabinet Named Finalists in BBC Radio Merseyside Make a Difference Awards 2026
Young people from Halton Youth Cabinet (HYC) are celebrating after being named finalists in the BBC Radio Merseyside Make a Difference Awards 2026, recognising the incredible impact of their environmental campaign, Binimals.
HYC has been shortlisted in the Environmental Award category following a highly competitive nomination process, making the achievement an exciting recognition of the young people's hard work, creativity, and commitment to making Halton a cleaner and greener place.
The Binimals campaign was developed by Halton Youth Cabinet as a creative way to tackle litter and encourage people to take greater pride in their local environment. Through the project, young people have been directly involved in developing ideas and working alongside local partners to turn their vision into something that can make a visible difference across the borough.
Being selected as a finalist recognises not only the campaign itself, but the dedication of the young people behind it. From developing the initial concept to collaborating with organisations and championing environmental responsibility, HYC members have remained at the heart of the project throughout.
The BBC Radio Merseyside Make a Difference Awards celebrate individuals and groups making a positive impact within their communities, with a large number of nominations received across the region for this year's awards.
Vibe UK is incredibly proud of Halton Youth Cabinet for reaching the finals and for continuing to demonstrate what can happen when young people are given the opportunity to turn their ideas into action.
Whatever happens at the awards, being shortlisted is already a fantastic achievement and a testament to the passion, dedication, and positive impact of HYC's young people.
